How it works

Getting kidney care shouldn't feel complicated.

Four simple steps from "my doctor mentioned a nephrologist" to a care plan you actually understand.

  1. Get referred — or just call

Most patients come to us from their primary care doctor or the hospital. Already referred? We likely have your paperwork. Not yet? Call us and we'll walk you through what your plan needs.

  2. We check your coverage

Our staff verifies your insurance before your visit — we participate in most major plans, including Medicare and Medi-Cal — so there are no billing surprises.

  3. Meet your nephrologist

Your first visit is a real conversation. We review your labs together, explain what the numbers actually mean, and answer every question you bring.

  4. Leave with a plan that fits

You go home with a clear, written care plan — and a team that coordinates with your other doctors, your pharmacy, and the hospital if you ever need it.

Good questions

Wondering about your first visit?

You're not the only one. Here are the questions patients ask us most — and there are more answers on our patients page.

See all questions →
Do I need a referral to be seen?

Many insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician before seeing a specialist. If your doctor referred you, we've likely already received the paperwork by fax. If you're unsure, call our office at (559) 661-1965 and our staff will check your plan's requirements with you.

Does anyone in the office speak Spanish?

Yes. Our entire staff speaks Spanish, so you and your family will always have someone to explain things in Spanish — when you call, when you arrive, during your appointment, and afterward. The physicians see patients in English, and a staff member is always there to translate and make sure you understand your care plan, your medications, and your results. The doctors also speak Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card(s), a complete list of your current medications with dosages (including over-the-counter drugs and supplements), any referral paperwork from your doctor, and copies of recent lab results or kidney imaging if you have them. Don't worry if you're missing something — our staff can request records from your other doctors.
